Oasis Loss Modelling Framework and Hub
(https://oasislmf.org, https://oasishub.co/)

"We are a pioneer. Our ambition is to change our market. As a catalyst for new ways of thinking, we meet the world with the energy of our ambitions to change it.”

Oasis is a not-for-profit catastrophe model platform, owned by its members, some of the world’s largest Re(In)surance companies and brokers. Over 100 companies operate in its ecosystem of organisations providing services around Oasis. It provides a cost-effective, highly flexible means of developing and acquiring software that fits the needs of its users. Oasis is much more than that, however. It is a dynamic global community, enabling people and organisations with similar interests to co-operate and share and develop ideas. So it is also an enabler for change – an alternative way of meeting risk management needs, an intentionally catalytic source of innovation. Oasis has many full members – all of them insurance or reinsurance companies or brokers. Its associates include academics and scientists from around the world and governments interested in understanding the perils that their countries face.

Dickie Whitaker has 30 years’ experience in the Re(In)surance business and for the last 20 years has specialised in risk and innovation and linking academia, government and finance. Dickie has written and presented extensively on these subjects and has operated globally and has worked in both London and New York. He has co-founded and works for The Lighthill Risk Network, FiNexus Ltd, Oasis Palm Tree Ltd, The Oasis Hub and is chief executive of Oasis Loss Modelling Framework Ltd. He also works with and advises the NERC’s Innovation Advisory Board, Satellite Applications Catapult Advisory Group, South West Centre of Excellence Board - SAT APPS, The Institute for Environmental Analytics (IEA) and Insurance Development Forum (IDF) Risk modelling and management steering group.
