Public Consultation - Water and Floods Directives

Fitness Check of the Water Framework Directive and the Floods Directive

The Public Consultation for the Fitness Check of the Water Framework and the Floods Directives, as well as associate directives, is launched and all citizens and the wider community of stakeholders are welcome to express their views.

You can participate via:

https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/better-regulation/initiatives/ares-2017-5128184/public-consultation_en

The consultation aims to collect as many views as possible on how the Water Framework Directive and the Floods Directive have respectively brought about changes to the sustainable management of water and improvement in the state of water bodies, and to the strategies to reduce the risk of flooding across the EU. The consultation will gather both general views from the public on their understanding and relation with water and more detailed information and opinions from national authorities, experts and private entities in charge of implementation on the specificities of the Directives. It is intended to also go beyond pure implementation and collect opinions on the functioning and interactions of the different Directives, as well as the costs and benefits that the different stakeholders attach to them.

Feedback period: 17 September 2018 - 4 March 2019
