Climate services from users‘ perspectives

From 17 to 19 October 2018, Belgrade is hosting the Climateurope Festival 2018, entitled "Climate information at your service".

Climateurope is the Europe-wide network for researchers, suppliers and users of climate information which aims to coordinate and support Europe’s knowledge base to enable better management of climate-related risks and opportunities, thereby creating greater social and economic value.

On October 17, Jaroslav Mysiak, CLARA project's coordinator, gave a presentation on "Evaluation of climate services from users‘ perspective: the Task Force EVALCS".

EVALCS is a voluntary horizontal knowledge-sharing activity, a bottom-up initiative to exchange information, produce joint products (e.g. articles and policy briefs), and ensure self-motivated coordination across projects developing climate services. The aim of the initiative is to avoid that the same research is conducted in various projects, to foster knowledge sharing and to identify areas in which joint work can reach a critical mass for policy outreach.

Among the future activities of the Task Force, Dr. Mysiak mentioned in particular:

- the organization of a joint side event at the forthcoming UNFCCC COP 24 (Katowice 2018 – initiative of CLARA, CLARITY, MED-GOLD, S2S4E with participation of EU-MACS, COACCH, and PLACARD);

- the organization of a session at ECCA 2019 – European Climate Change Adaptation conference (Lisbon, 28-31 May).
